what is mean by white blood cells low? how to increase white blood cells? what are the types of white blood cells? what happens if white blood cells are high? what is mean by white blood cells high? white blood cell structure, how to lower white blood cell count? how do white blood cells work? Range of White blood cells?
WBC (White Blood cells) has an important role in the immune system of the body. WBC(White Blood cells) count increases in several infections. In short, it is a response which the body gives to recognize other pathogens or infections in the body. It recognizes bacteria, virus or any foreign cells and leucocyte and destroys them before they could form the disease.

Types of WBC:
NEUTROPHILS:
They consist of 60-70% of the total WBC count. The levels of neutrophil are elevated in response to various infection, in stress, bacterial or viral infections
LYMPHOCYTE:
A lymphocyte is white blood cells that are also one of the body’s main types of immune cells. They are made in the bone marrow and found in the blood and lymph tissue. The rise in response to some bacterial and viral infections.
MONOCYTE:
Monocyte is a type of white blood cell that fight certain infections and help other white blood cells remove dead or damaged tissues, destroy cancer cells, and regulate immunity against foreign substances.
The rise in chronic inflammation.
BASOPHIL:
Basophil plays a role in keeping the immune system functioning correctly. The rise in allergic responses.
EOSINOPHIL:
Eosinophils are a kind of white blood cell that helps fight disease. The rise in allergic and parasitic infections.
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN WBC ARE ELEVATED:
White blood cells fight against infection. An elevated WBC count is not a disease but it is an indicator of problems such as infection, inflammation, trauma, allergy. So, if white blood cells are elevated then the required test should be done and visit a doctor.
SYMPTOMS OF ELEVATED WHITE BLOOD CELLS
The condition in which white blood cells count is high known as leukocytosis. In leukocytosis white blood cell count increases above the normal range. A normal range is 4000-11000 per microliter.
Leukocytosis may be because of viral infection. Symptoms are as follows: Fever, fainting, bleeding, bruising, whole body pain, weight loss.
CAUSES OF ELEVATED WHITE BLOOD CELLS:
There are several reasons win which white blood cells are elevated. Following are some of them:
- IMMUNE SYSTEM DISORDER:
Some autoimmune diseases such as graves and Crohn,s disease white blood cell count are increased.
- INFECTION:
There are several infections in which WBC is elevated. Mostly in all infections. Infection may be a bacterial or viral or fungal infection.
- COPD:
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease may have elevated white blood cells. Others diseases like emphysema, lung diseases this is mostly all because of smoking. In all these diseases there is inflammation of lungs for this body produces a large number of WBC to fight against it.
- STRESS:
Stress of any kind whether mental, physical or emotional results in elevated white blood cells.
- LEUKEMIA:
In leukemia, there is an increase in white blood cells. It is a type of blood cancer.
TYPES OF FOOD THAT DECREASE ELEVATED WHITE BLOOD CELLS:
Food also affects our white blood cell count. Have lots of antioxidants like vitamin E, vitamin C, fish oils, calcium. And you should avoid foods such as fast foods, foods which are high in calories, sugars, and salts. Some of the foods lower your inflammation such as soy protein, garlic, nuts, olive, green tea. We should have six to seven servings of short meals including veggies and fruits.
Other nutrients as follows:
ANTIOXIDANTS:
Antioxidants are molecule which protects against cell damage caused by free radicals. To avoid this damage, have more antioxidants and phytochemicals. Phytochemicals found in garlic, onion, leeks, carrots contain carotenoids, fruits and vegetables contain flavonoids. All these help to boost immunity.
OMEGA-3 FATTY ACIDS:
These types of fats are polyunsaturated fat (PUFA). They are found mainly in fatty fish like salmon, trout, walnuts and in flaxseeds. Omega -3 fatty improves your heart health and elevates the process of phagocytes.
